Mmafani Serote is a respected academic known for her passionate approach and dedication to empowering individuals with the skills needed for the future. With over 24 years of experience as a lecturer in the higher education sector, Mmafani has made significant contributions to equipping students with the knowledge required to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
Her educational background includes a National Diploma in Commerce Education and a B-Tech in Educational Management, both from Tshwane University of Technology. She further enhanced her expertise by earning an M-Tech in Business Information Systems and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Information Systems at the University of South Africa.
CTAP’s focus on helping SMEs integrate AI into their daily business operations immediately caught Mmafani’s attention. What ultimately convinced her to join the programme was CTAP’s mentorship approach, which not only supports SMEs but also offers undergraduates and postgraduates invaluable opportunities to gain workplace experience and build official portfolios of evidence.
As Chief Tertiary Education Liaison Officer (CTELO) at CTAP, Mmafani plays a pivotal role in fostering relationships with tertiary education institutions while ensuring that CTAP’s mission to empower SMEs aligns with academic goals. She will be working closely with universities and colleges to ensure that students and graduates are equipped with the practical skills necessary to succeed in the business world. Her leadership and expertise bridge the gap between academia and industry, creating opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience while contributing to the growth and development of SMEs.
Though she continues to work full-time at UNISA, Mmafani passionately dedicates all her free time to advancing CTAP’s worthy cause.
